Title question:
How Digital matte painting methodologies and techniques can make my scene look appealing in terms of realism.

After capturing numerous footage around Invercargill, Personally I felt this one sofar meet the standard of proper shooting. I have tried to keep this short and simple. Longer footage with maximum camera movement can create a serious problem while working with software, especially while tracking.

As of my immense current interest, I decide to choose this procedure. Decide these implications, there have been numerous challenges that I had to face. such as loss in image quality while shooting long shot, lack of camera equipment and tripods, unable to access the software at campus lab, Pandemic rules etc.

Therefore, I made my mind to stick with this footage. The footage is simple with maximum camera movement, where shot with an ordinary cellphone, details are reflective. Basic of matte painting is carried out along with compositing that involves matchmaking, color grading, matte painting.

This project explores more into visual compositing that shows how one can one create street footage and later adding extra element through matte painting. I would say, It is approach to the basics of visual effects and compositing procedures.
The main reason behind coming up with such an idea is just because of my immense curiosity in compositing as it trains us as an artist for a future career.  For this task, I mostly relied on internet learnings, videos, tutorials. My inspirations are modern days Hollywood feature films, short films, and internet tutorials while Old movie pioneer like George Melies, Norman Dawn are my influential artist models.
For this particular task, I have widely used Adobe Photoshop, After effects, and Nuke to some extent. and I am pretty happy with what I have achieved despite early trial and errors with different footage.
I have been managing to finish this project fully and completely.

Title: City Compositing

How can I Digitally modify an ordinary street to urban city landscape with the use of computer software? Where methodologies such as matte painting, match moving, movie editing are used. My goal for this project is to make every element blend in one scene smoothly that can reflect realism in one's eyes. The footage shown is captured with iPhone 6 that follows minimum HD criteria( 1280×720 px).

When capturing numerous footages around Invercargill, I personally felt this one, so far is the best to meet the regular standard of proper shooting. I have tried to keep this short and simple. Longer footage with maximum camera movements can often results a serious problem while working with different software. One of the challenging parts was to take a solid camera tracking and parent with background elements. If made wrong can create a certain jump or flicker to the scene. So, I made my mind to stick with this footage. The footage is simple and has a maximum camera movement when shooting with an ordinary cellphone, details are clearly captivated. Basic of matte painting is followed along with compositing that involves matchmaking and color grading.

Despite these implications, there have been numerous challenges that I had to face. One being loss in image quality while shooting long shot, lack of good camera equipment and tripods, unable to access the software at campus lab, Pandemic rules, etc. The shown footage can be improved with more time flexibility and more research But I feel pretty happy with what I have achieved so far despite early trial and errors trying different footages.
Overall, this project explores more into visual compositing and also shows how one can create street footage to appear as an urban city. I would say, It is a short approach to the basics of visual effects and compositing procedures. Frankly, The main reason behind coming up with such idea is just because of my immense current interest towards visual compositing as it trains me to become a skillful VFX artist for future career.  For this task, I mostly relied on internet learnings, online videos, tutorials and tutors' advice. My inspirations are modern days Hollywood feature films, short films and legendary movie pioneers such as George Melies, Norman Dawn.

The softwares that I have used are Adobe Photoshop, After effects, and The Foundy's Nuke.
